自分のメディアをつくる。自分のメッセージを発信する。自分の存在自体を表現する。マスメディアによって誤解が起こったり、何かがステレオタイプ化されたり、ねじれたりします。イメージがすぐ消費される時代だからこそ、自分のイメージを作り出す方法、自分のイメージをコントロールする方法も重要になってきます。根本的な技術さえわかれば誰でも動画が作れるし、それによってマスメディアの単眼的、一方的な情報発信の仕方の代わりに複眼的、相互的なアプローチがとれます。「わたしのメディア」を通して「わたしの世界」を伝えて、世の中の視点を増やすことができます。

今回のワークショップではビデオの撮影、編集とその公開の仕方を学びます。自主映画の監督である早川由美子さんを講師として迎え、その技術と意識を共有します。基本的なテクニークを持ち帰って、自分自身の日常生活の中でそのノウハウが活かせるようにします。
12月16日は国際移住者デーとして動画・写真フェスティバル「ここにいる koko ni iru.」というイベントが移住連という団体により企画されています。
これに関連し、移住者や外国にルーツをもつ人びとがこの社会に暮らしていることをあらためて共有することを目的として「ここにいる koko ni iru.」をテーマとした作品（動画、静止画）を募集しています。（締め切りは12月1日）　https://www.facebook.com/events/1498634966882303/
このイベントに向けて今回のワークショップでは特に移住者や外国にルーツをもつ人びとを対象として動画の作り方を共有したいと思います。

早川由美子
東京都出身。成蹊大学法学部、London School of Journalism卒業。公務員、会社員を経て、ジャーナリストを志し2007年に渡英。ロンドンでジャーナリズムを学ぶ傍ら、独学で映像制作を始める。イギリス国会前の平和活動家、ブライアン･ホウを追った初監督作『ブライアンと仲間たち パーラメント･スクエアSW1』(2009年)で、日本ジャーナリスト会議･黒田清JCJ新人賞を受賞。2009年に帰国し、以降は東京を拠点に活動。日本の公共住宅問題を取り上げた2作目『さようならUR』(2011年)で、山形国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭･スカパー!IDEHA賞を受賞。その他の作品に、『乙女ハウス』(2013年)、『木田さんと原発、そして日本』(2013年)、『ホームレスごっこ』(2014年)など。自身の作品制作の他、市民による情報発信力を高めるため、スマホやビデオカメラによる撮影･編集のワークショップなども積極的に行う。https://www.petiteadventurefilms.com/

Make your own media. Transmit your own message. Express your own presence.Through the channels of mass media misunderstandings are disseminated and stereotypes strengthened, and something is twisted. In an age when images are so rapidly consumed it becomes ever more important for us to find a means of creating and controlling our own image. With the basic skills anyone can make their own video, and in this way we can counter the singular, unidirectional form os massmedia with a pluralistic, interacting approach.
Through "my media" we can communicate "my world", and increase the perspectives which exist around us.

This workshop is aimed at foreign residents and those with foreign roots who are invited to join with film maker Yumiko Hayakawa in learning the fundamentals of video shooting, editing and sharing online. This is held in conjunction with the Migrants Network(SMJ)'s "Koko ni Iru - We are Here Campaign" and the video festival to be held on 16th December, International Migrants Day.
The festival is calling for submissions of 3 miniute videos by or about immigrants/those with foreign roots in Japan.
We hope this workshop might be a spark towards making your own video for this festival.

Yumiko HAYAKAWA was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1975. She graduated from Seikei University in Japan, and the London School of Journalism in the UK. During her studies in London, she began her filmmaking career and in 2009, she completed her first documentary film, “Brian and Co. Parliament Square SW1”. With this film, she won the, “New Face Award 2009” from the Japanese Congress of Journalists. Her second film, “Goodbye UR ? The Japanese Social Housing Crisis” won the, “Sky Perfect IDEHA Prize” from Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2011. Her films focus on various social issues and inequality in today’s Japan. She also organizes filmmaking workshops at alternative media centres and universities. She is known as one of the most active independent documentary filmmakers in Japan.
