イベント概要

今回の1ofUでは日本在住の外国人の誰でも経験がある問題、入居拒否の問題にフォーカスします。多くの外国人は一般の不動産屋さんに行ったら「外国人に貸すことができない」、「大家さんは外国人を断る」などよく聞きます。またこの国籍の問題を超えても日本で家族のつながりがない状況で部屋を借りることがとても難しい状況です。この根本的な差別とそれを寛容する社会についてディスカッションします。

1ofU is a chance to research and share issues of foreign residents in Japan through art, law and everyday life. Coming together we share personal stories and objective information to uncover some of the unseen conditions in Japan today. One issue which nearly all foreign residents face in Japan is the problem of renting accommodation. Most of us are familiar with being told by the estate agents that "sorry no foreigners", and even if we overcome this hurdle the system of renting throws up many hurdles for those with no family connections in Japan. We will discuss this institutional discrimination and ask why it is still so widely practiced and tolerated.
